I recently had a Deep Tissue Thai massage with Maliwan, and it was truly exceptional. This is my third visit so thought I should write a review. From the moment the session began, she created a calming, welcoming atmosphere that made it easy to relax. Her technique is outstanding- precise and incredibly intuitive. She knew exactly where to apply pressure and how to release tension without ever causing discomfort. What stood out most was her professionalism combined with genuine warmth. Every stretch and movement felt purposeful, and I walked out feeling lighter, more flexible, and completely refreshed. It was easily one of the best massages I’ve ever had. If you’re looking for an authentic, deeply restorative Thai massage, I highly recommend booking with Maliwan. She is truly gifted at what she does.
Traditional Thai Massage
Ancient full-body healing — no oils, fully clothed, working the Sen energy lines.
Traditional Thai Massage is a 2,500-year-old healing art that combines rhythmic compression along the body's Sen energy lines with passive, yoga-like stretches that open joints and release deep-seated tension. Unlike oil-based treatments, this is performed fully clothed on a comfortable floor mat, allowing Maliwan to use her hands, thumbs, elbows, forearms, and feet to apply precise therapeutic pressure. The result is a treatment that works simultaneously on the physical body and the energetic system — leaving you looser, lighter, and more centred than when you arrived.
Key Benefits
- Improves flexibility and joint mobility through assisted stretching
- Releases chronic muscle tension along the spine, hips, and shoulders
- Unblocks stagnant energy to restore vitality and mental clarity
- Relieves headaches, back pain, and postural discomfort
- Reduces stress and anxiety through deep parasympathetic activation
- Improves circulation without the need for oil or undressing
- Suitable for most people — adaptable from gentle to firm pressure
What to Expect
Wear loose, comfortable clothing — Thai massage is performed fully dressed. Maliwan begins at your feet, applying thumb-pressure to energy channels, and works systematically up through the calves, thighs, hips, and torso before finishing with neck, shoulder, and scalp work. Throughout the session, she guides you through passive stretches — nothing is forced; every movement is supported. Sessions run 60 or 90 minutes. You will feel lighter, longer, and deeply relaxed when you stand up.
Frequently Asked Questions
Just yourself. Wear or bring loose, comfortable clothing — lightweight trousers and a T-shirt are ideal. Avoid heavy meals for at least an hour before your session.
Yes — "Thai yoga massage" is a common alternative name for Traditional Thai Massage, reflecting the passive stretching element that resembles assisted yoga poses. Both names refer to the same treatment.
Maliwan calibrates pressure to your body and preference at the start of each session. Traditional Thai can range from a firm-but-gentle therapeutic level to deep and intense work on specific areas — you remain in control throughout.
Sessions run either 60 or 90 minutes. A 60-minute session covers the full body at a steady pace and suits most first visits; the 90-minute session allows more time on problem areas and deeper, unhurried stretching. If you are carrying specific tension in the back, hips, or shoulders, the 90 minutes is well worth it.
Absolutely. Traditional Thai Massage is well suited to first-timers. You stay fully clothed throughout, Maliwan explains each stage as she works, and the pressure and stretches are adapted to your comfort. Just let her know at the start if anything feels too strong — nothing is ever forced.
Because the treatment involves assisted stretching and firm pressure, it may not be advisable if you are pregnant, recovering from recent surgery, or dealing with fractures, blood clots, or certain medical conditions. Please mention any health concerns when you book — Maliwan can often adapt the treatment or recommend a gentler oil-based alternative.
Most people feel lighter and more relaxed straight away. Because the treatment works deeply into the muscles, some people notice mild next-day soreness similar to that after gentle exercise — this is normal and eases within a day. Drinking plenty of water afterwards helps.
It depends on your goals. For general wellbeing and stress relief, once a month keeps the body loose and balanced. If you are working through a specific area of chronic tension, a session every one to two weeks for a short period tends to give the best results before easing back to maintenance visits.

I had a Thai massage here recently and the experience was a mix of positives and challenges. The massage room was spacious, ambient, and very comfortable, especially the massage table. The masseuse was friendly, attentive, and clearly skilled. The massage itself was mostly relaxing, but at times the pressure was stronger than I could comfortably handle. I was reassured it was “good pain” due to the tightness in my shoulders and back, but I did end up with bruises on my arms and back and felt very sore for a couple of days, which affected my sleep. On the positive side, a few days later I noticed that I felt lighter and less tense, which shows the massage did release a lot of tightness. I would recommend this place for those who like deep, strong pressure massages, but if you prefer something gentler, I suggest making this clear to the masseuse at the start.
A beautiful experience — highly recommended I had the pleasure of booking a Thai massage in Glasgow today and it was a truly beautiful experience. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and at ease. The team was very friendly, incredibly professional, and delivered excellent work throughout my visit. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing, and I could tell that great care was taken in every detail. It’s clear that the ladies working here are passionate about what they do, and I’m so grateful for the hard work they put in. This is definitely a place I’d love to return to — and I’m already looking forward to my next visit. Thank you again!
Fantastic place. Staff are very knowledgeable, attentive and skilled. I had some tightness in my back and hip which they noticed right away and went a long way to easing. The staff were also careful around my knee and elbow which had some sporting injuries. The rooms are serene with light music and subdued lighting. The hot oil treatment is very soothing. I look forward to returning. Many thanks
